With our partners and suppliers, we at WINI pursue the long-term goal of using as many sustainable - ideally even completely recyclable - materials as possible in our furniture production.
For example, we use sustainable natural products such as cork, upholstery fabrics made from collected plastic waste (SEEQUAL initiative) or 100% recycled post-consumer plastic, as well as components made from post-industrial plastic. WINI relies on paper-based solutions for packaging, regional sourcing and AI-supported packing and route optimization for logistics.
One of WINI’s sustainability initiatives is SARA (particleboard made from 100% recycled waste wood)—a board produced without the use of any newly harvested wood. SARA thus anticipates the mandatory EU regulation requiring deforestation-free supply chains for all companies starting in mid-2025.
The problem: In Europe alone, millions of tons of waste wood end up in landfills every year, releasing carbon that was previously sequestered during thermal processing. The SARA solution: Producing new particleboard from used wood to reduce deforestation while simultaneously reusing and recycling waste wood.
A win for climate protection: For SARA, waste wood (classified according to the EAV (European Waste Catalogue) as old furniture, pallets, construction timber, etc.) is chipped and processed into new, high-quality furniture boards. Adhering materials are separated by type during the processing and sent for recycling. SARA is produced without the use of newly harvested timber. No forests need to be cleared for SARA, no habitats for flora and fauna are destroyed, and existing resources are used more efficiently. That amounts to hundreds of thousands of trees each year that do not need to be felled. Through the circular economy, the carbon remains bound in the waste wood, and our forests can absorb more CO2 for longer.
SARA does not differ in appearance or properties from conventional Chipboard. It complies with the E05 standard and is PEFC and FSC-certified. The board is vegan (binding without glue based on animal substances) and less water is used in its production than with conventional Chipboard.
SARA can be used for all WINI table tops and carcass furniture. The board is available in WINI board thicknesses and four standard colors. With the entire WINI decor color spectrum, it can be designed on request.
With furniture from WINI made from recycled materials, you can combine ecological and aesthetic aspects in sustainable office furnishings. The use of SARA panels made from recycled waste wood has a direct impact on environmental protection and resource conservation. Waste wood recycling extends the useful life of wood, reduces the need for new wood and thus protects forests and their biodiversity. Ecological office furniture made from post-industrial wood, waste wood or end-of-life products enables the sensible recycling of wood as a raw material and contributes to the circular economy.
Investing in sustainable, long-lasting office furniture has a positive impact on your eco-balance. Sustainable office furniture reflects the values of a responsible company. Designing sustainable office furniture with the SARA board means taking responsibility for the environment while creating durable, aesthetically pleasing and functional working environments. By focusing on sustainability, you are investing in the future of our planet while promoting a healthy, inspiring working environment.
SARA offers another way to make offices even more sustainable. The modular design of WINI furniture systems, their high-quality workmanship, the high degree of customizability and long-term delivery guarantees are the foundation of WINI's strategy to make office furniture even better. With the sustainable design of WINI office furniture, you can make your office furnishings flexible and environmentally friendly.
